Hotel Patritius – more than 800 years of history
The name “Hotel Patritius” is a reference to Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. That’s because, around the year 1200, an Irish monastery once stood on this very spot. The current buildings date back to 1596, including the impressive carriage entrance. In 1830, the property was transformed into a grand townhouse. Many of the neoclassical and Empire-style elements from that era have been lovingly preserved.
Today, modern 21st-century comfort has been seamlessly woven into the historic charm. And yet, it still feels as if a lady in a hoop skirt or a gentleman in a top hat might descend the staircase at any moment.
